Job Title: Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator & Grades 9-12 Teacher

Role Duration: 10months full time start August 2026
Position Summary:
The role of the Ashley Hall Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator is to plan and oversee the IB Diploma accreditation process with the ultimate goal of being authorized to offer the IB Diploma by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The coordinator would oversee the alignment of the schools curriculum and teaching frameworks to ensure they meet the expectations of the IBO. Through coordination with teachers administrators and the IB regional office the coordinator is responsible for preparing our Upper School for the full delivery of the IB Diploma including supervising the documentation reporting analysis assessment delivery and examination delivery and standards as required by the IBO. A key part of this role is ensuring that the school is in compliance with DP requirements. The DP Coordinator has oversight and coordination of all IB related activities including teacher training and unit development student evaluation and the student experience. The DP Coordinator is expected to teach an upper school class.
The DP Coordinator has overall responsibility for:
Leadership
Work with the Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning and the Upper School Division Director to develop a step-by-step plan to gain authorization to offer the IB DP
Offer DP guidance/training/workshops as needed during regularly scheduled meetings
Work with the Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning the Upper School Director and the MYP Coordinator to develop a bridging program in Grades 9 and 10 that will prepare students for the challenge of IB Diploma course work. Refine or develop policies that reflect the IB philosophy and satisfy Diploma Programme requirements
Support and mentor upper school teachers through all facets of the IB programme
After implementation/adoption of the programme support and mentor new upper school teachers in the classroom
Regularly review and follow all IB rules regulations and guidelines to support programme implementation and ongoing development to ensure fidelity in the implementation of the DP requirements and specifications necessary for the successful implementation of the programme (as outlined in Programme standard and practices)
Provide learning engagement input and feedback for upper school teachers
Support teachers through regular classroom visits and feedback
Provide opportunities for teachers to observe one another in practice
Communication
Keep the Schools leadership regularly informed of DP developments
Maintain communication between Ashley Hall and the IB
Work with the Division Director to create a communication plan to educate both students and parents about the IB DP program
Provide curriculum-related parent meetings and workshop opportunities
Ensure that teachers have access to the IB Online Curriculum Centre and newly published DP documents
Contribute to the presentation and promotion of the academic program within the Ashley Hall Community
Collaborate with the PYP and MYP Coordinators on a bi-weekly basis to ensure continuity throughout the program
Communicate relevant DP professional development opportunities for staff
Liaise with the coordinator of DEIB and Community Partnerships to seek out ways to reinforce the Schools efforts in that area
Professional Development
In consultation with the administrative team identify areas for professional development and provide support to upper school teachers prior to the professional development process
Provide divisional small group and individual professional development opportunities as needed
Curriculum
Participate with school leadership on curriculum and assessment within school and the IBDP
Provide upper school teachers with relevant and up to date IB and IBDP curriculum documentation and documentation framework support
Provide guidance and support to upper school teachers in understanding DP Scope and Sequence documents
Ensure that curriculum documentation is up to date and that DP teachers understand how to use the DP unit planner
Student Experience
Working with Grades 9-12 teachers oversee and implement service learning opportunities and field trips aligned with IB goals and priorities
Work with 9th-12th Grade leadership to organize weekly IB-themed assemblies
Provide guidance and support that help students succeed in the IB programme and plan for the next stage of their educational and or career-related experiences.
Parents
Provide comprehensive information to parents about the DP and the Schools milestones
Organize parent meetings to:
Advise parents on the suitability of the IB Program for their child(ren)
Inform parents about the benefits and requirements of the IBDP
Notify parents about their child(ren)s progress
Documentation and Resource Management
Assist the Upper School Director with scheduling to support implementation of the Programme
Keep records of all correspondence with the IB including forms documents and reports
Assist the Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning in determining main curriculum resources and other needs for professional development; and in placing resource orders
Ensure that teachers keep long-range plans for IBDP up to date
Prepare and submit any documentation required for authorization and evaluation
Prepare timelines for submission of work to the IB.
Ensure that all requirements and procedures set by the IB concerning the Programme are adhered to
Manage the IB Diploma Programme budget
Teaching
Teach a minimum of one academic course within the successful candidates subject-discipline expertise or in a discipline area that compliments curricular programming
Model effective research-based instructional strategies
Help build effective team-oriented relationships that promote effective and purposeful collaborative academic environments where courses are taught with an emphasis on student inquiry action and reflection
Demonstrate proficiency and application experience of relevant technologies to support instruction and student exploration
Possess the flexibility and willingness to teach and support interdisciplinary courses
Examinations
With the support of the Upper School Administrative Assistant ensure that students are registered for examinations
Ensure conduct of examinations (written and oral) and visiting examiners
With the support of the Upper School Administrative Assistant ensure that all internal assessment materials are sent to respective examiners
Send examination answer scripts to IB examiners on time
Report examination irregularities
Organize distribution of results
Work with school leadership to analyze results and adjust program delivery as necessary
Qualifications:
Established knowledge of IBDP Programme through teaching in the framework and or coordinating the IB
A masters degree in teaching education education leadership or a related field pertinent to this specific role
Exceptional self-starter with a high degree of self-management and the ability to take initiative while being in continuous communication and collaboration with multiple stakeholders
Trained in and/or experience with student-centered and experiential instruction
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Can demonstrate a record of collaborative teaching
Possesses an ability to build authentic relationships with colleagues and students
