The Counseling Recovery & Wellness (CReW) Program is a licensed community mental health and substance use disorder treatment program and provider of the King County Integrated Care Network (KC-ICN). Our program focuses on serving adults with mental illness and/or substance use disorders to help improve individuals quality of life. The range of services CReW provides include diagnostic assessments individual therapy peer support case management group counseling skills training care coordination medication management and psychoeducation. Our collaborative team focuses on serving adults with mental illness and/or substance use disorders to help improve the quality of life for our clients and our great community. Services offered utilize Harm Reduction and Recovery principles with an emphasis on building collaborative relationships with the person served the development of opportunities for personal growth a commitment to community integration goal-oriented and individualized supports and satisfaction and success in community living. Our team was created out of the need for onsite supportive services in our agency housing program and we adapt our services to best fit the unique needs of our clients in a variety of locations within Seattle downtown and greater King County. In a behavioral health setting a psychiatric medical assistant will be part of an interdisciplinary team and work in collaboration with prescribers nurses case managers therapists peers and supervisors. The medical assistant plays an integral role in the management of an individuals access to psychiatric provider services as well as providing traditional medical support services to the nursing and provider teams. This work involves provision of direct client care collaboration with teammates basic education and training to staff and clients on common health care conditions and treatments and coordination with hospitals pharmacies medical or psychiatric providers.

This is a Full-time 40-hour position starting at $25.18 - $26.69/hr (D.O.E) witha competitive benefits package:

Responsibilities

  • Psychiatric Provider supports
    • Clinical Scheduling & Support:Manages new and follow-up appointment scheduling conducts appointment reminders to track no-shows and provides technical support for telemedicine visits.
    • Records & Medication Coordination:Prepares client charts with lab results and records while managing the processing of medication refills and prior authorizations in accordance with agency policy.
  • Medication Management
    • Manage client medication including coordinating weekly bubble packaging with pharmacies ensuring accurate delivery and performing required drug screens.
    • Collaborate with RNs to assess client health needs facilitate necessary medical referrals and ensure continuity of care within scope of practice.
  • Provide back up support to the RNs
    • Administer long-acting injectable antipsychotics under provider supervision within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
    • Monitor and report client-stated concerns regarding medication effectiveness and side effects to providers/nurses for follow-up.
  • Care Coordination
    • Facilitate access to care by assisting clients in identifying primary care providers (PCPs) scheduling appointments and managing referrals.
    • Ensure continuity of care through coordination with outside providers medical records and appropriate routing of clinical needs to nurses or providers.
  • Universal job skills: All CCS employees will demonstrate the ability to:
    • Provide personalized non-judgmental and strength-based support to consumers while ensuring their immediate safety stabilization to the appropriate medical personnel.
    • Build trust with consumers and stakeholders through clear communication of roles collaborative problem-solving and timely accurate documentation.
    • Employees must work collaboratively complete documentation on time and strictly adhere to confidentiality (HIPAA) and agency policies. Safeguard client Protected Health Information (all forms).

Qualifications

  • Medical assistant certification through Department of Health
  • 6 months of experience in a behavioral health setting where psychiatric medications are prescribed and/or administered.
  • Experience and comfort administering medications via injections.
  • Pass background check through Washington State Patrol.
  • 1 year experience working with vulnerable populations (either people experiencing homelessness and/or behavioral health conditions).
  • Ability to outreach and engage individuals who are ambivalent about health care and treatment.
  • Comfort and familiarity with Microsoft (Outlook Teams SharePoint)
  • Core knowledge or ability to quickly learn Electronic Medical Records tracking systems and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Excellent bedside manner/communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative in role development and to act as a role model on care coordination and health promotion to other staff in the agency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of health care laws and regulations in Washington State and King County.
