Role Overview

We are seeking an AI Professional with Mainframe Expertise to design develop and deploy AI-driven solutions that modernize and enhance legacy mainframe applications. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in AI/ML data engineering and automation combined with hands-on experience working with mainframe systems data structures and workloads.

This role focuses on applying AI Machine Learning and Generative AI to improve legacy system efficiency automate operations unlock mainframe data for analytics and support modernization initiativeswhile ensuring security compliance and enterprise scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AI/ML-driven solutions to modernize and optimize legacy mainframe applications and processes.

  • Analyze mainframe workloads data structures (VSAM DB2 flat files) and batch/online processes to identify AI and automation opportunities.

  • Develop AI-powered use cases such as:

    • Intelligent batch optimization and failure prediction

    • Anomaly detection and operational intelligence

    • Code analysis refactoring recommendations and documentation using GenAI

    • Data enrichment and predictive analytics leveraging mainframe data

  • Build and deploy AI/ML models using Python and modern ML frameworks integrating them with mainframe and distributed systems.

  • Enable secure access to mainframe data for AI/analytics using APIs data pipelines and event-driven architectures.

  • Collaborate with modernization cloud and application teams to integrate AI solutions into broader transformation programs.

  • Apply Responsible AI principles ensuring explainability governance security and compliance.

  • Participate in architecture reviews AI strategy discussions and modernization roadmap planning.

Required Skills & Technologies

AI / Machine Learning

  • Python-based AI/ML development

  • Machine Learning frameworks (TensorFlow PyTorch Scikit-learn)

  • Generative AI and LLMs (prompt engineering RAG patterns model integration)

  • NLP predictive modeling anomaly detection and automation use cases

  • Model lifecycle management evaluation and tuning

Mainframe & Legacy Systems

  • Strong understanding of IBM Mainframe environments (z/OS)

  • COBOL JCL DB2 VSAM data structures

  • Batch and online processing concepts (CICS preferred)

  • Experience working with mainframe operational data and logs

Data & Integration

  • Data engineering and pipelines for structured and semi-structured data

  • SQL and relational databases (DB2 PostgreSQL etc.)

  • APIs messaging and event-driven architectures

  • Secure data access and governance

Cloud & Platforms (Preferred)

  • AWS or hybrid cloud environments

  • AI/ML services and data platforms

  • Containerization and automation concepts

  • DevOps and CI/CD exposure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying AI/ML in legacy modernization or mainframe environments

  • Familiarity with DXC insurance platforms such as wmA Vantage CyberLife (preferred not mandatory)

  • Experience in regulated industries (Insurance Financial Services Healthcare)

  • Strong communication skills to translate AI outcomes into business value.
