The Visual Arts Teacher (MYP/DP/IGCSE/A-Level) will deliver a rigorous inquiry-based arts program for secondary students bridging the gap between technical skill and conceptual depth. The role focuses on fostering independent "Artist-Researchers" who can navigate various media while meeting the high standards of international examination boards. The teacher will be responsible for guiding students through complex portfolios and final exhibitions that demonstrate both individual voice and global awareness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning (International Curriculum Aligned)
Plan and deliver inquiry-led units for MYP and skill-based portfolios for IGCSE/A-Level.
Facilitate the development of the Visual Arts Journal as a core tool for experimental and reflective practice.
Deliver specialized workshops in various media from traditional printmaking to contemporary digital manipulation.
Differentiate instruction to challenge high-achieving DP/A-Level candidates while supporting foundational skills in lower secondary.
2. Curriculum & Portfolio Development
Design a seamless curriculum transition from MYP Inquiry to the high-stakes demands of CIE and IB Diploma assessments.
Promote a "Global Arts" perspective encouraging students to analyze art from diverse cultures and time periods.
Guide students in the selection and refinement of work for their DP Portfolio and IGCSE Component 1/2.
3. Assessment & Documentation
Conduct rigorous internal moderation for MYP eAssessments and DP Visual Arts components.
Prepare students for IGCSE/A-Level externally set assignments focusing on time management and technical execution.
Maintain digital and physical archives of student work ensuring all board-specific documentation is meticulously recorded.
4. Collaboration & School Engagement
Collaborate with the Arts Department and DP/MYP Coordinators to ensure curriculum vertical alignment.
Curate the Annual IB DP Art Exhibition and public showcases of IGCSE/A-Level coursework.
Lead interdisciplinary projects that connect Visual Arts with TOK (Theory of Knowledge) Science or Humanities.
Play a major role in school events by designing themes stage backdrops props and visual aesthetics for assemblies festivals and annual functions.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Fine Arts (MFA preferred) or Visual Communication.
IB Category 1/2/3 training in MYP or DP Visual Arts is highly preferred.
Experience with CIE/CGE training for IGCSE/A-Level Art & Design.
Eligibility & Experience Requirements
Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in an international school setting Compulsory.
Proven track record of high student achievement in IB DP or CIE A-Level results Preferred.
