POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Overview:
The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager oversees a high-volume payables function within a growing service-oriented organization. This role is responsible for the accuracy timeliness and integrity of all vendor payments as well as leading process improvements ensuring strong internal controls and managing a collaborative team. The AP Manager serves as the subject matter expert for accounts payable operations workflow and ERP systems.
Essential Functions:
Lead and manage the Accounts Payable team to ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments
Oversee monthly AP close including account reconciliations accruals and reporting
Review and approve staff work ensuring adherence to company policies US GAAP and SOX requirements
Manage vendor relationships and resolve discrepancies with internal departments and external partners
Monitor and reconcile vendor accounts purchase orders and invoices to maintain accurate records
Identify and implement process improvements system enhancements and workflow efficiencies
Prepare AP metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management reporting
Support technology upgrades ERP implementations and financial process reviews
Hire train mentor and evaluate staff performance
Collaborate with client services and accounting teams on vendor onboarding and client-related payables
Knowledge and Skills:
Proven ability to lead teams manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills
Customer-service mindset with strong attention to detail
Strong understanding of AP systems workflows and ERP platforms
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (or equivalent experience)
57 years of progressive AP experience including leadership or supervisory responsibilities
Experience in high-volume service-based or shared services environments preferred
