Job Summary
Qualifications:
- Must have appropriate certification-New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification
- Experience working with elementary students with special needs primarily students with a diagnosis of autism or a pervasive development disorder.
- Ability to modify curriculum and provide individualized instruction based upon IEP goals and objectives
- Ability to motivate and work in teams to achieve academic expectations
- Able to work collaboratively with school leadersand school staff to collect analyze and use data to continuously modify the instructional program
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing with students staff parents administrators and the community
- Ability to provide a nurturing supportive and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility using positive motivation clear classroom routines and effective classroom management skills
- Knowledge of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards
- Excellent classroom management
