The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols toassist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care;
- Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures ensuring correct storage labelling recording and efficient dispatching of samples;
- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample;
- Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request and confirming with the patient whenever possible;
- Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff;
- Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues;
- Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.

You will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or experience;
- Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture;
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting ideally within primary care;
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes;
- Consistently confidential compassionate and respectful approach placing a high value on the dignity of patients relatives carers and colleagues;
- Ability to communicate effectively and to understand the needs of the patient;
- Strength in problem-solving with the ability to process information accurately and effectively interpreting data as required;
- Flexibility and an adaptable approach;
- Commitmentto ongoing professional development.
