This position isrequired to have demonstrated fluency (both oral and written) in both Spanishand English to communicate with Spanish-speaking constituents.
Investigation: Conductsinvestigations and examinations of potential labor standards violations in theState. Performs this function usingestablished investigative discovery methods and evidentiary analysis includingconducting and documenting witness interviews identifying collecting andanalyzing relevant information including statements reports payroll andpersonnel policies and records and other required documentation and evidence.
Evaluation:Evaluates and relates facts to compliance requirements citing applicable laborlaws and regulations for the purpose of employee empowerment preventingviolations and public education. Performs this function through direct inperson and telephone interviews written communications and reviewing andanalyzing documentary information and other evidence.
Adjudication:Adjudicates labor law violations after considering investigation results anddocument findings.. Provides testimony during hearings regarding decisions by issuing citations penalties wage orders final wageorders subpoenas and other notices.
Outreachand Education: Provides consultation services to employers employees andother interested persons to improve labor law compliance in the state. Performsthis function through written and oral communication group presentations andcollaboration with employers to establish labor law compliance programs.
Communication: Communicates orallyand in writing with employers employees colleagues and program managementand other interested persons for the purposes of identifying and investigatingpotential violations issuing enforcement documents obtaining compliance through approved methods(such as conciliation or settlement) and addressing inquiries from members ofthe public.
ReportWriting: Prepares narrative reports detailing investigations andfollow-up activities.
OtherDuties as Assigned: Performs all other duties assigned.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of general investigative work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of an Associates or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university for the required years of experience.
2. Candidates may substitute thirty (30) college credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience not to exceed two (2) years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in the inspection investigation enforcement and compliance classifications inspection investigation enforcement and compliance specialty codes in the wage and hour investigation field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
