The facility is a 400 bed hospital offering comprehensive services including surgical care heart and vascular services emergency and trauma care orthopedics oncology womens services and advanced specialty programs. Position Summary
The Nurse Manager of Surgical Services is responsible for the overall management leadership and clinical excellence of the Operating Room. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality professional nursing care by assessing planning organizing directing and evaluating care for surgical patients. The Nurse Manager works closely with hospital leadership physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support operational efficiency staff development and patient safety.
Responsibilities
Ensure the delivery of safe high-quality nursing care for all surgical patients within the Operating Room.
Assess plan organize direct and evaluate nursing care and departmental operations.
Collaborate with the OR Educator to plan and implement staff education orientation and ongoing training.
Conduct department-specific needs assessments and develop staff growth and competency plans.
Establish departmental goals objectives implementation strategies and evaluation measures.
Develop maintain and interpret departmental policies and procedures.
Maintain fiscal responsibility including operating and capital budget planning.
Serve as a liaison between OR staff administration medical staff and other hospital departments.
Participate in performance evaluations in collaboration with clinical leadership.
Attend facility management and leadership meetings.
Work collaboratively with senior leadership finance and unit leaders to support departmental operations and strategic initiatives.
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Director of Surgery
Oversees approximately 60 FTEs
Manages an Operating Room with 14 surgical suites
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of acute care Operating Room leadership experience
At least 5 years of RN experience in an Operating Room setting
Strong clinical expertise in surgical nursing
Bachelors degree in Nursing or related field
Active Texas RN license or compact state license
Current BLS (AHA or equivalent)
Strong leadership communication and organizational skills
