The Advanced Manufacturing Mechanical Technician position is a high-growth opportunity within the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team. This person is responsible for performing daily laboratory tasks to complete engineering projects and limited production assignments in a high-tech manufacturing assembly lab. This role will be part of the manufacturing readiness of compressor products for new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing technology development. This role partners with Advanced Manufacturing Design Engineering and Operations to support early compressor development pilot builds pre-production validation activities from early concept through production release. You will set up and operate complex assembly equipment to assemble analyze and troubleshoot compressor processes and components throughout the manufacturing processes.
AS AN ADVANCED MANUFACTURING MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN YOU WILL:
Assist in a variety of Assembly projects related to New Production Introduction (NPI) and drive continuous improvements for lab builds and process development.
Assemble prototype or development type of components with hand tools power tools fixtures and custom equipment.
Maintain and upkeep assembly equipment workspaces and lab areas.
Operate laboratory test equipment including but not limited to presses welders test equipment material handling equipment and electrical or mechanical measuring devices.
Create assembly process documentation and train other technicians of proper assembly processes.
Communicate technical information related to project statuses to other team members.
Accurately measure and document assembly or test results.
Fabricate supporting assembly or test fixtures.
Troubleshoot test equipment perform routine maintenance and coordinate calibration activities.
Comply with all safety procedures and promote a strong safety culture
Participate in Safety5S & other improvement practices utilizing lean fundamentals related to a lab environment.
Travel may be required 10%
REQUIRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Associate degree in related field plus three (3) years of experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to apply creative thinking to solve mechanical and electrical challenges
Hands-on experience with mechanical equipment and basic instrumentation.
Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical/electrical aptitude
Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints and electrical schematics
Meet the physical demands of the position which include manipulation of heavyweights standing for extended periods of time use of hand tools cutting welding and brazing equipment.
Ability to collaborate and work in both an individual & team environment
Proven computer skills including MS Words Excel PowerPoint

PREFERRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Five (5) plus years experience preferred in a manufacturing or lab facility
Experience as a technician in Mechanical / Electrical applications
Experience with installation troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical production equipment
Knowledge of a 3D Modeling software such as NX Solidworks Inventor etc.
Controls and PLC understanding
Manufacturing related experience
Proficient Microsoft Office user
Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills
