The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time temporary (1 year) innovative Advanced Practice Clinical Leader in the Slaight Centre Early Intervention Service (SCEIS). The SCEIS provides clinic and community-based assessment and treatment for young people 14-35 years of age experiencing a primary psychotic disorder often early stage; affective and non-affective primary psychotic disorders. Reporting to a Clinical Director of Child Youth Emerging Adults and Addictions you will be part of a team of an Advanced Practice Clinical Leaders (APCLs) that support a variety of patient populations in CAMHs Acute Program.

Aligned with CAMH and Professional Practice strategic initiatives you will provide clinical supervision and advance clinical care for specialized populations (e.g. Early Psychosis). You will advance clinical practice and provide systems leadership through the implementation and evaluation of best practices in the assessment care planning and discharge planning of youth populations with severe mental health challenges substance use and trauma histories. You will support family engagement initiatives quality improvement initiatives and patient and staff safety strategies. Specific to the SCEIS you will support the ongoing implementation and practice of the Slaight Centre Integrated Care Pathway incorporating both measurement tools to support measurement based care as well as a standardized evidence-based model of care. The SCEIS implements Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) using the NAVIGATE program along with peer support work.

Ontario Healths Mental Health & Addictions Centre of Excellence has launched the Provincial Early Psychosis Intervention Program which includes among other aspects Coordinated Specialty Care using the NAVIGATE program along with peer support work. Supporting the Provincial EPI Program the SCEIS is the Provincial Training Hub including trainers and training supports utilizing Project ECHO and CAMH Education resources. The successful candidate will also support the CAMH Provincial trainers with training and coaching skills as well as practice implementation strategies that arise within the training sessions.

Preceptorship of graduate students; engagement in evaluation and research; and participation in interprofessional academic opportunities are all expectations of this role. Together with clinical program operational leaders you will participate in program planning and evaluation; develop and maintain integrated care pathways to enhance patient population outcomes; participate on internal and external committees; and serve as a clinical resource and subject matter expert in program-level and organizational-level strategic planning activities. The successful candidate will possess a Masters Degree in a regulated health discipline and will be a member of good standing in the regulatory addition 5 years experience in mental health and addiction treatment is required. The successful candidate has the capacity and competence to provide supervision to support select aspect of CSC implemented at SCEIS. Applicants must demonstrate an understanding of the complex psychiatric and physical health needs of this clinical population. Additional qualifications such as CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health or other relevant certification is an asset. Eligibility for cross appointment at the University of Toronto is also required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to provide professional practice leadership; the ability to challenge and motivate others; a commitment to enhancing academic and research endeavours; experience in leading change and the ability to provide advanced clinical care in a culturally diverse environment. Previous advanced practice/administrative/academic scholarship is an asset. The candidate will also have excellent interpersonal communication negotiation teaching and computer skills. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

  • Salary is competitive and based on experience with a hiring range of$110020.48 $137525.60per year.
