Teacher of Physics
We areseekingan enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Physicsto join our successful and forward-looking Physics department. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate physicist to teach their subject with depthambitionand intellectual freedom within a school that values academicrigourand curiosity.
You will teachcombinedscience in Y7andphysicsfromY8 to 13 delivering high-quality lessons that stretch and challenge pupils of all abilities while fostering confidencecuriosityand a genuine love of the subject. You will be encouraged to teachphysicsas away of thinking about the world developing pupils conceptual understanding problem-solvingskillsand independence of thought.
You will join a supportive andhighlycollaborativeandforward-thinkingdepartment where subjectexpertiseisvaluedand teachers are trusted as professionals. Strong relationships with pupilscolleaguesand parents sit at the heart of school life and you will be expected to contribute positively to the wider academicpastoraland co-curricular life of the school.
The Physics Department
Thephysicsdepartmentis strong and well-establishedatGSALcharacterisedbyhigh expectations excellentoutcomesand a shared commitment to outstanding teaching and learning. The department is well resourced with modern specialist laboratoriesexcellentlyresourcedwithextensive and modern equipmentenabling practical work to sit at the heart ofphysicsteaching.
All pupils studycombined science in Y7 andphysicsin Y8 and 9 withstrong uptake and excellent results at GCSE and Alevel. Manypupilsprogress to degree courses inphysicsEngineeringand related disciplines. Teaching in the departmentemphasisesenquiry-led learning secure conceptualunderstandingand the application ofphysicsto real-world contexts.
Schemes of work extend beyond the requirements of the National Curriculum and examination specifications giving teachers thefreedom and flexibilityto enrich the curriculum draw on their own subject interests and challenge pupils intellectually. There are also opportunities to contribute to a variedprogrammeof enrichment trips and co-curricular activities both within the UK and overseas.
