Job Summary

Description

The Informal Recreation Coordinator will report to the Assistant Director to oversee the informal recreation programs and facilities at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. These programs and services include the TRECS (Tennessee Recreation Center for Students) TRECS Fields and HPER.

Multiple positions available.



Responsibilities
  • Provides direction training oversight and scheduling of student staff for the Tennessee Recreation Center for Students (TRECS) and the Health and Physical Education Building (HPER).
  • Support the implementation review and enforcement of facility policies and procedures including facility access emergency action plans (EAP) and standard operating procedures.
  • Works collaboratively with the Assistant Director to assess and mitigate current and future risk and ensure the TRECS and HPER meet all departmental university and local standards.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings trainings sessions and performance evaluations to maintain high standards of service and foster a positive work culture.
  • Assist in coordinating operational logistics for recreation events reservations and special events.
  • Directs purchasing and inventory processes for facility supplies equipment and materials to ensure timely procurement and budget compliance.
  • Plan and schedule one program a month during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Input check and approve student payroll on a bi-weekly basis.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree

Experience: Experience working with students and student groups in a university campus recreation program or 2 years working in related recreation program (i.e. Parks & Rec).

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Ability to work with diverse constituencies.
  • Prioritize multiple; work responsibilities in a time-sensitive situation.
  • Work with limited supervision.
  • Supervise and delegate work to student staff.
  • Exercise good judgment.
  • Handle different situations with confidence and leadership and be flexible.
  • Knowledge of supervising and programming recreation facilities.
  • Ability to use PC and Mac operating systems and Microsoft office suite.
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication customer service and interpersonal relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Masters degree

Experience:One (1) year of professional experience working with students in a campus recreation program or similar organization of comparable size.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:Experience with When-to-Work and InnoSoft Fusion.

Work Location

  • This position is located in Knoxville TN.
  • This position is in-person with remote work opportunities in the summer and during winter break.

Compensation and Benefits

  • UT market range:08
  • Anticipated hiring range:$45000 - $47000Final salary is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a full university benefits package.
