Position Summary:
The CEPS Generalist supports the Clinical Excellence and Patient Safety department by gathering organizing and preparing clinical data used to evaluate quality of care identify trends and support performance improvement initiatives. This role abstracts information from medical records assists with data preparation for review by CEPS nurses and leaders and completes routine clerical and documentation tasks that support safety compliance and quality-of-care monitoring. Working closely with departmental team members the CEPS Generalist contributes to organized workflows and clear communication across quality initiatives. Through accuracy confidentiality and attention to detail the position plays an important role in ensuring reliable information is available to guide organizational quality and patient safety efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Abstract clinical and administrative data from medical records in accordance with CEPS protocols and documentation requirements.
- Prepare organize and maintain data reports or summaries for review by CEPS nurses and quality improvement staff.
- Assist with clerical duties such as scanning filing data entry and maintaining accurate information systems.
- Collaborate with CEPS staff to support ongoing patient safety and quality monitoring activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow regulatory and organizational standards when handling protected health information.
- Support departmental projects and improvement initiatives by providing timely and accurate data and administrative assistance.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Educational Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Working knowledge of PC Excel word processing. On the job training to learn particular clerical procedures
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- Clerical perception and medical terminology.
Physical Requirements:
The CEPS Generalist primarily works in an office environment that requires prolonged periods of sitting computer use and detailed review of clinical documentation. Occasional standing walking or light lifting of files or office materials may be required. Adequate vision hearing and communication abilities are essential for reviewing records entering data and collaborating with staff.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed in a professional office or clinical support setting with routine exposure to computers office equipment and typical noise levels. Occasional entry into clinical areas may be necessary to retrieve information requiring adherence to infection control guidelines and safety policies. Strict compliance with confidentiality privacy regulations and organizational standards is required when accessing or handling sensitive patient information.
