Position Summary:
Acts as Lead Security Guard for a team of Security Guards or Security Surveillance Guards in order to insure the security of facilities resources employees and guests at Grand Canyon West. Responsible for the monitoring of guest movements throughout location. Acts as Hualapai ambassador for guests asking for assistance.
Knowledge and Abilities:
  1. Prior experience as a security or security surveillance guard.
  2. Ability to function as a lead worker and role model for a team responsible for Security and Surveillance at Grand Canyon West facilities.
  3. Ability to assess security situations or issues and take appropriate action. Handle all escalations of issues on shift as appropriate. Assess whether issue needs to be escalated further.
  4. Ability to patrol grounds on foot and by vehicle and observe employee and guest interactions.
  5. Ability to work in outdoor environment for long periods of time.
  6. Ability to foster a team environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Lead work activities of Security Guards or Security Surveillance guards engaged in the safety and protection of company property employees and guests.
  2. Patrol the grounds of Grand Canyon West and respond to emergency or escalated issues at remote area locations.
  3. Monitor guest and employee activity and assist in escorting off the premises any person under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
  4. Answer visitor/tourists questions gives directions share information about GCW the Hualapai history and culture etc.
  5. Actively communicate and coordinate with local police authorities regarding possible observations of theft or other illegal activity on premises.
  6. Act as role model and assist with on the job training for less experienced Security and Security Surveillance Guards.
  1. Keep Security Supervisors and Manager apprised of all situations and provide timely updates on activity.
  2. Ability to work in and foster a team environment and maintain positive working relationships.
  3. Ensure fleet vehicles are being taken care of appropriately and maintenance practices are being followed.
  4. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Good oral and written communication skills.
  2. Valid Drivers License with clean driving record.
  3. Clean criminal background.
  4. Minimum of 21 years of age.
  5. High School Diploma or GED.
  6. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
  7. Experience as a Security or Security Surveillance Guard.
Working Conditions:
Position requires ability to work indoors as well as in outdoor environment for long periods of
time regardless of weather conditions. Must also have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as part of
duties.
Must be able to work varying schedules weekends and holidays.
Applicant must pass a pre-employment drug screen and extensive background check may be required. Grand Canyon Resort Corporation (GCRC) is wholly-owned by the Hualapai Tribe and is located in Peach Springs 1988 the Hualapai People who have been part of this land since time immemorial established GCRC welcoming millions of visitors each year to tour the area. The year 1883 is when the reservation was established and occupiers are usually foreign to the land they occupy. To further increase tourism in the area the Grand Canyon Skywalk was built in 2007. The Skywalk is a glass horseshoe-shaped bridge that enables visitors to walk beyond the canyon walls at Grand Canyon West suspending them 4000 feet above the riverbed and providing an unparalleled view of this natural wonder.
