As a part of The Mustard Seeds Ogden Hub:29 the Café Lead will also work with other departments toexplore and implement opportunities for the café to supplement client and residentprogramming.
Position Type:6 month contract 32 hours a week
Schedule: Tuesday to Friday at 10:30am-5pm/ Saturday 11-5pm; occasional late evening.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Train andguidecafé staffandvolunteers.
- Preparework schedules for staff;find replacements in cases of staffsickness orabsence and cover for staff if no replacementfound.
- Maintainsupplier and partner relationships.
- Expandmealand beverage menusincluding seasonal items.
- Explore andfacilitateopportunities for the café tobea hub of community activity ( or music nights).
- Create social media content.
- Manage inventory; pick up or order necessary supplies.
- Set andmaintainstandards in customer service quality control food safety and café cleanliness.
- Ensure that all café expenses are within budget;identifyways to decrease operational costs.
- Perform sales settlement at the end of every shift;regularlymake bankdeposits.
- Listen and respond to guestscomplaints making sure they are dealt with appropriately.
- Abide by all Health and Safety protocols and procedures (ex. incident reports near misses) and mandatory training courses (NVCIsafeTalk First Aid)
- Required to abide by all Health & Safety protocols including completing a report for all incidents that occur including near missesin a timely manner.â
- Other duties as may be assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Post-secondary diploma relating to Business Hospitality or Food Service is an asset.
- Minimum oftwoyearsexperienceworking in the Food Service industry preferablyin a coffee shop.
- Strong leadership communicationcustomer serviceand conflict resolutionskills.
- Front line experience working directly with vulnerable groups such as individuals experiencing homelessness poverty mental illnessaddictionand Canadian newcomersis an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to engage communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of people from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Experienced with developing creative solutions to complex challenges and problems
- Valid Alberta Health Services Food Safe certificate.
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Drivers License (Class 5) and access to a reliable vehicle with a minimum of $liability insurance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Physical effort: moderate amounts of walking climbing standing sitting liftingandcarrying
- May berequiredto lift to 50 pounds.
- Evening andSaturday shifts are expected.
- Mental effort: daily interactions with colleagues and guests.
- Fast paced and demanding work environment.
