BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION
The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides integrated capital markets products investment banking advisory services corporate lending and top-ranked research to corporate government and institutional clients around the world. Our goal is to be the leading Capital Markets franchise in Canada and the lead relationship bank for key clients globally.
The Business Management team supports regional business leaders by building and maintaining an appropriate infrastructure model. The team spearheads new programs to enhance front office support and manages various financial and project initiatives.
JOB PURPOSE
The incumbent is accountable for providing day-to-day trade control support for all trading room products to ensure all trades executed by the Front Office have been independently verified accurately booked and enriched into the requisite system applications in a timely manner. The incumbent is also required to assist in implementation of business controls and data processing for the Asia Pacific Region through internal structure which involves several different groups people and applications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verify & enrich all trade details against broker confirms external trading platforms and trade tickets in accordance with daily trade control procedures.
- Work within a challenging fast-paced environment where time pressures demand a rapid response to requests from the trading floor. Close liaison with Front Office sales and trading colleagues with regards to queries or booking discrepancies .
- Frequent communication with peers in Trade Control London and Toronto to ensure consistent approach globally and handover of global coverage.
- Coordinate with Group Operations and Middle Office to resolve booking or parameter discrepancies regarding to confirmation rates and settlement.
- Maintain good knowledge of Capital Markets products and partner with global peers to deliver timely results for clients. Act as a liaison for clients on trade and settlement related enquires during Asian business hours.
- Assist the Business Management team to maintain a robust and compliant business risk and control environment.
- Work closely with colleagues in order to implement and deliver various projects.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor Degree with minimum 4 years of Trade Control / Middle Office experience.
- Good working knowledge of Capital Markets Trading products (including but not exclusively FX Options IR Derivatives Commodities Bonds and Equities).
- Confident and thorough strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills attention to details.
- Ability to work independently manage time efficiently and self-motivated.
- Ability to accurately respond to queries regarding the trade details and discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Strong communication skills required when dealing with traders sales Middle Office back office officers and investigations officers with regards to trade bookings amendments and other inquiries.
- Effective interpersonal relations including good teamwork / partnerships and relationship building.
