What will you doThe IALR Marketing and Communications Intern will work to assist with marketing and communications of technical and scientific information for the IALR. This is a part-time position and is not eligible to participate in IALRs benefits offerings.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reports on activities and events at IALR involving STEM camps research projects and other areas that cross scientific technical and STEM fields
  • Assists with photography and videography
  • Assists with facility tours specializing in a knowledge of STEM-related activities and labs
  • Assists with technical writing
  • Assists with website maintenance and updates
  • Assists with graphic design needs
  • Provides research on technical journals and publications for the IALR
  • Collects and analyzes analytics from website and social media platforms
  • Supports any other needs identified by the Public Relations & Communications department

Work HoursThe intern will work 10-20 hours per week for up to a maximum of 28 weeks and up to a maximum of 560 hours throughout the internship. The internship is expected to start in February 2026 end in May 2026.

Where will you workWe are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville VA.



    Qualifications

    Desired skill sets include:

    • Enrollment in degree-seeking program pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree.
    • Strong written and verbal communication with a mastery of proper grammar (knowledge of Associated Press style preferred)
    • Initiative self-motivation and ability to work independently
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
    • Basic knowledge of InDesign Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Cloudplatforms preferred
    • Basic knowledge of WordPress preferred
