Job Summary

Our Buildings Places practice includes architecture interiors building and system engineering urbanism and planning (inclusive of landscape design) strategy economics technology solutions asset advisory and cost and program management.  This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create.  Our California studio focuses on the Commercial/Corporate Science and Technology Higher Education and Federal market sectors.  We look to combine beauty sustainability resiliency equity and innovation in our projects and believe these values can be instilled in any project regardless of size or budget. 

Some of our recent projects include tenant build-out spaces a water reclamation office building and lab facility a Joint Public Safety Training Center Package distribution warehouses and cutting-edge scientific research facilities. 

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Intern to be based in the San Diego CA office.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.

Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering design and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Support technical design (will be exposed to design work).
  • Provide support to internal project managers and engineers by assisting with project administration.
  • Assist with the preparation of design review presentations with MS PowerPoint.
  • Attend review meetings keep minutes and record action item tracking worksheets.
  • Perform or support design verification and checkout activities.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience or education and must have completed at least three years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelors degree and plan to continue with the masters degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelors degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS Project skills.
  • Advanced level of Excel and Word skills.
  • PowerPoint experience.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical design power distribution system.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical components and characteristics.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and collaborate with team members.

Additional Information :

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in San Diego CA. The selected candidate must be available to work in San Diego CA on a scheduled basis.
