Position Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer II to support capital projects and electrical control systems for a 24/7 manufacturing operation. This role involves designing implementing and managing industrial electrical and automation projects across manufacturing facilities in North America.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in industrial control systems PLC programming and project execution within a manufacturing environment along with the ability to manage multiple projects from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Controls Engineering

Design develop and implement electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment and processes.

Prepare and review technical electrical specifications for equipment and project implementations.

Perform engineering calculations designs and system configurations for manufacturing projects.

Ensure compliance with corporate engineering standards and specifications.
Project Management

Manage multiple capital projects from planning through completion.
-
Develop project scope schedules cost estimates and technical documentation.
-
Oversee project execution ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
-
Manage projects typically ranging from $50K to $200K.
Troubleshooting & Plant Support

Provide hands-on troubleshooting for electrical and control systems.

Work closely with maintenance teams to diagnose and resolve complex automation issues.

Support manufacturing operations by identifying and implementing process improvements.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
-
Manage external engineering firms contractors and equipment suppliers.

Prepare bid request documentation evaluate proposals and support purchasing decisions.

Oversee installation commissioning startup and training for plant personnel.
Compliance & Safety

Support electrical safety initiatives within manufacturing facilities.

Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.

Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action planning for system failures.
Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

3 years of experience in electrical controls or automation engineering within a manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI systems (including programming).

Experience with industrial control networks and automation communication systems.

Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with 480V power distribution systems including:

Experience with 4160V power distribution systems.

Experience working with external engineering teams and contractors on industrial projects.
