Overview
A Senior Professional Services Consultant advises enterprise customers on the effective use of Identity and Access Management (IAM) and security solutions to meet business objectives and address complex technical challenges. The role combines deep hands-on technical expertise with strong consulting communication and leadership skills.
The Senior Consultant takes technical ownership of customer engagements leading solution design development testing deployment and ongoing support. Acting as a trusted technical advisor the role involves working closely with customers to understand requirements translate them into robust IAM architectures and ensure solutions are delivered to a high standard.
The Senior Consultant collaborates closely with Principal Consultants and other Senior Consultants to define delivery approaches mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership across delivery and pre-sales activities. The role supports a broad range of IAM capabilities including Access Management Identity Governance Federated Identity Directory Integration and SaaS-based IAM platforms with a strong focus on IBM Security technologies and hybrid cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead for complex IAM engagements and serve as an escalation point for advanced technical issues.
- Design develop test deploy support and optimise IAM solutions in enterprise environments.
- Lead technical discussions and workshops with customers to gather requirements and translate them into effective IAM architectures.
- Produce and own Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation contribute to High-Level Design (HLD) and create architecture and integration diagrams.
- Support hybrid IAM deployments across on-premises cloud and SaaS environments.
- Work closely with Principal and Senior Consultants to define project scope delivery approach milestones and technical standards.
- Support pre-sales activities including solution design technical input to proposals effort estimation and client presentations.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation change records release notes and operational handover materials.
- Deliver customer training technical walkthroughs and knowledge-transfer sessions.
- Collaborate with internal engineering support and sales teams to ensure successful delivery and ongoing customer satisfaction.
- Provide post-deployment support including incident investigation defect resolution upgrades and system optimisation.
- Identify opportunities to enhance customer solutions and contribute to continuous improvement of delivery practices.
Technical Skills & Experience
Primary Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM Security Verify Access (ISAM / ISVA) including design implementation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with IBM Security Identity Governance & Intelligence (IGI) and/or related IAM governance platforms.
- Proficiency with IBM Security Directory Integrator (SDI / TDI) for integrations transformations and provisioning workflows.
- Solid understanding of IAM architectures including Access Management Identity Governance and Federated Identity.
- Experience implementing federation technologies: SAML 2.0 OpenID Connect (OIDC) OAuth 2.0 and SCIM.
- Strong integration experience using REST APIs and web services.
- Proficiency with Docker and containerised IAM deployments (required for AccessOne and Webtop).
- Strong scripting skills using JavaScript and Shell scripting in Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience producing IAM solution designs and Low-Level Design documentation.
- Excellent customer-facing communication and consulting skills.
Secondary / Desirable Skills
- Experience with IBM Security Identity Manager (ISIM) and IBM Security Verify (SaaS and hybrid).
- Integration with external Identity Providers (e.g. Microsoft Entra ID Okta PingID).
- Experience with directory services (LDAP) databases (DB2) and certificate/TLS management.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
- Experience with AWS and hybrid cloud IAM integrations.
- Familiarity with SaaS IAM platforms including Exostar AccessOne and Webtop.
- Awareness of SIEM tools such as IBM QRadar and general security monitoring.
- PowerShell scripting in Windows environments.
- Experience using Git or other version control systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant technical degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant industry certifications (IBM IAM cloud or security-related) are desirable.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise IAM solutions in customer-facing environments.
- Financial services industry experience preferred but not mandatory.
Education:
B.E/BTech degree in Computer Science or Equivalent Engineering
