Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site which would have a storage capacity of 250000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

This role works across the Corporate Affairs team and with the Regulatory and Compliance team to support Indigenous consultation government and community engagement activities and stakeholder relationship-building across the Project lifecycle. The External Relations Manager is responsible in supporting government Indigenous and community engagement activities and preparing and maintaining consultation documentation. The role supports directors and managers on both teams and liaises with the Squamish Nation and other First Nations local governments community organizations and government agencies ensuring engagement activities are well-executed and documented.

The Manager must have strong communication and organizational skills a commitment to relationship-building and a desire to support inclusive and meaningful consultation. The ideal candidate is someone who has worked with First Nations and stakeholders in the context of a major industrial project.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • Plan coordinate and facilitate consultationwith First Nations and engagement with stakeholders including on regulatory processes or requirements.
  • Attend in-person and virtual engagements including community and stakeholder meetings workshops conferences and open houses.
  • Assist in preparing consultation and engagement materials such as agendas and presentations.
  • Support the development ofconsultation and engagement plans and lead execution of consultation and engagement activities.
  • Participate in external working groups and committees with First Nations government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Attend cross-department internal planning and coordination meetings and report up to senior management as required with summary reports and other updates.
  • Document and track consultation/engagement activities in Isometrix in support of regulatory compliance transparency and information sharing.
  • Provide support for key topics including flaring readiness start-up/operations readiness life to operate readiness integration of portfolio issues through integration with Regulatory and Compliance Team and other teams
  • Provide clear timely and accurate responses to First Nations and stakeholders as required by gathering and providing information.
  • Support issues resolution to the extent possible and escalating issues to management where warranted including advice or options for how best to resolve issues.


Requirements

Required Experience

  • At least a Bachelors degree in Environment Science Social Science Indigenous Studies Business/Public Administration Indigenous Studies or a related field.
  • Have at least five to ten years experience in Indigenous relations/consultation community engagement and stakeholder relations.
  • Experience working directly with the Squamish Nation is an asset.
  • Experience working with Provincial federal or local government is an asset.
  • Experience in Isometrix or other stakeholder management database tools.
  • Working knowledge of the LNG industry in B.C.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written communication including the ability to prepare summaries reports engagement documentation and stakeholder or public-facing materials to support engagement.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and rights holders including First Nations community organizations government agencies and others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Microsoft Teams and SharePoint; experience with stakeholder relations software is an asset.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong ability to track and manage information across multiple sources.
  • Ability to generate written reports and documents in a variety of formats

Hours of Work

Full-time of 40 hours a week on a regular Monday-Friday schedule. Availability on evenings and weekends during irregular hours is required on a semi-regular basis.



Benefits

Salary range: CAD 130000 - 155000/yr
