Position Summary

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct hands-on personal and physical care to clients primarily within aged care settings. This role operates under the supervision of nursing or senior care staff and focuses on personal hygiene physical comfort dignity and safety.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks including showering toileting grooming and continence care
Support clients with mobility repositioning and manual handling in accordance with safety procedures
Assist with daily care routines as directed by nursing or supervisory staff
Support meal services and provide basic feeding assistance when required
Monitor and promptly report any changes in clients health wellbeing or behaviour
Accurately document care activities and observations
Follow infection control workplace health and safety and manual handling guidelines
Correctly and safely use personal care equipment
Support clients communication needs including assisting with understanding instructions and expressing basic needs

Skills and Qualifications

Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) & English is a MUST

Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care or related field) or equivalent
Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred
Ability to follow care plans instructions and established procedures
Strong attention to detail and a high commitment to client safety and dignity
Physically capable of performing manual handling tasks
