Job Summary
As a Firmware Validation Engineer you will validate firmware functionality at the component subsystem and system level ensuring features operate reliably within the broader vehicle platform. This includes testing embedded applications control logic and feature integrations across hardware interfaces sensors and actuators to confirm they meet functional performance and safety requirements.
Your work directly impacts the quality and readiness of customer-facing features by catching issues early improving integration stability and enabling smooth handoff to system-level validation. Through close collaboration with firmware developers systems engineers and cross-functional teams you will help deliver robust and reliable embedded features to production
In this role you will:
- Develop comprehensive test plans based on requirements and design
- Develop and implement automated tests on complex embedded systems
- Collaborate with system firmware & hardware engineers to ensure implementations meet requirements and desired functionality in accordance with product requirements.
- Manage test suites across multiple CI framework
- Develop new firmware tests/review and refine existing firmware tests
Qualifications
- BS in relevant engineering discipline
- 3 Years of relevant experience
- Experience developing/testing embedded firmware
- Object-oriented programming experience (Python preferred)
- Hands-on experience with wireless test platforms (e.g. Keysight Rohde & Schwarz) or testing modem prototypes.
Bonus Qualifications
- Ability to use network analysis tools (e.g. QXDM Wireshark) and analyze communication behavior.
- Experience in 3GPP 4G-LTE / 5G-NR network architecture WiFi Ethernet standards (IEEE 802.1AS 802.11) and IP network protocols.
- Experience with Wi-Fi PHY designs and coexistence between Wi-Fi Cellular and GNSS.
$155000 - $211000 a year
Base Salary Range
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling as well as positioning within a level is determined by a range of factors including but not limited to a candidates relevant years of experience domain knowledge and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
