The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration Health Services Rehabilitation & Reentry Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!

Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to load transport and unload all materials manufactured sold or transported by Correction Enterprise.

This position also picks up delivers and unloads raw materials used in Enterprise operations. This also includes participation in actual loading process when necessary to help distribute weight properly and facilitate deliveries or route scheduling. Position requires public contact which includes answering questions being knowledgeable about Enterprise products and services and providing prompt courteous service at shipping destinations. The selected candidate needs an excellent knowledge of North Carolina geography and highway system. Finally the candidate is responsible for the safe operation and routine maintenance and cleaning of truck tractors and trailers.

Salary Range: $32639 - $57117

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Experience operating equipment associated with loading/unloading trucks including but not limited to: forklifts electric lifts pallet jacks load locks etc.

  • Identify and resolve potential safety problems and unsafe work practices.

  • Able to drive a 10-speed manual transmission
