ChristianaCareis currently seeking a Full Time Flex 72hours Sr. CNA/PCT2 on the behavioral health unit (U4N) to help promote the safety and well-being of the patients/staff on the unit throughout the day. CNAs are primarily responsible for Q15 minute safety checks on all patients meal monitoring for 3 meals a day and 2 snacks belonging checks small group activities and clerical tasks as needed. Assist patients with daily living activities when needed. Display compassion empathy and exceptional communication and relationship building skills to individuals in need of treatment to help promote physical well-being psychological and emotional well-being for all mental health and behavior diagnosis.

3 Yrs. of Acute Setting of Behavioral Health Preferred

Must be certified in BLS and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) to help deescalate behavioral situations and assist with direct 1:1s when ordered by physician. This is a 12-bed unit for adults ratio is 12:1 for PCT.

Shift is 0700-1930 and1900-730am. Every other weekend and rotating holidays. Total of 36 hours weekly/72 bi-weekly.

The CNA / PCT II position requires the execution of clerical duties to help support the nursing staff and patients. CNA license not required for this role.

Education and experience requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalentANDone or more of the below qualifications:

  • Previous patient care experience including taking vital signs.

  • Nursing student who has successfully completed clinical hours or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.

  • Licensed CNAs will be required to perform provision of nursing assistant care within scope of practice including IV insertions.

  • Acceptance into a Christiana Care approved Patient Care Technician training program.

  • 2 years clerical or related experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs assigned nursing duties for the comfort and well-being of patients.

Performs and accurately records vital signs Accu-checks bathing grooming toileting feeding and mobilizing patients.

Performs successful finger sticks on patients defined procedures on point of care instrumentation and EKGs.

Following established policies and procedures additional duties may include phlebotomy venipuncture.

Responds with promptness compassion and interest to needs of patients.

Demonstrates proficiency using required computer skills to document in the electronic medical record.

Performs Unit Clerk duties such as answering phones entering charges calling provider consults setting up patient transportation assisting staff with clerical needs and audits and coordinates maintenance of unit supplies.

Responds to patient crisis and initiates interventions within the scope of responsibilities and notifies RN.

Daily contact with patients family members visitors employees medical staff volunteers and students.

Direction/supervision received:

Nurse Manager. Assistant Nurse Manager. Receives direction from RN.

Knowledge skill and ability requirements:

Knowledge of basic nursing care provided for specific patient population of unit.

Knowledge of department standards selected procedures nursing practice guidelines and procedures.

Ability to acquire information to identify patient needs and to deliver care as needed.

Ability to work quickly and thoroughly.

Ability to recognize changes in patient status take appropriate action and advise RN

Ability to perform basic math skills.

Ability to use appropriate safety measures for patients employees and self.

Ability to follow universal precautions at all times.

Ability to exercise judgment tact and diplomacy.

Ability to respond to patient crisis situations under the direction of the RN following ChristianaCare protocol.

Ability to show strength in basic computer skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

BLS Certification required.

Physical demands:

Ability to stand walk sit bend lift push pull carry reach twist handle stoop climb as per unit based Physical Demand Checklist.

Working conditions:

Frequent exposure to biological elements with occasional exposure to chemical and environmental elements as per unit based Physical Demands Checklist.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.10 - $27.69

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCares good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills relevant experience and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
