The Town of Chapel Hills Summer Youth Employment Program is open to all Chapel Hill youth who meet the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) income guidelines. The program is sponsored by a Community Development Block Grant.
- The program hires youth between the ages of 14-18 years old.
- Families must meet income guidelines (earn less than 80% of the median income for Chapel Hill adjusted for family size)
- Youth generally work 6-7 weeks about 20 hours per week during the summer for a maximum of 120 hours.
- $12.00-$13.00per hour
- Youth are hired to work within different departments at the Town as well as various area non-profits.
- The program provides workshops to assist with resume writing interviewing skills and to teach youth how to conduct themselves during and after an interview.
- Applicants must submit family income information with theirapplication.
- The Town of Chapel Hill is a Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace. All youth selected for employment will be required to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol screening fingerprinting and background check.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a current resident of Chapel Hill (sometimes residents of Carrboro can be considered)
- Must be between 14-18 years of age
- Must not earn more than 80% of the HUD Area Median Income for your household size
Supplemental Information
- Selected candidates will be assigned to various town locations and area nonprofits and remain in that assignment for the duration of employment.
- General work hours are between 8:30 and 5:00 Monday-Friday.
- Candidates work approximately 20 hours per week for 6-7 weeks during the summer months. Maximum hours: 120
$12.00-$13.00 per hr. - Each position may have slightly different responsibilities.
- Multiple positions available
- The Town of Chapel Hill is a Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace. All youth selected for employment will be required to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol screening fingerprinting and background check.
