Anticipated Opening for 2026-2027Elementary Classroom Teacher (K-6)$500 Hiring Bonus after Successful Completion of Probationary Period!About Us: Vermont Achievement Center Inc. (VAC) serving Rutland and Vermont since the Role: Position: Elementary Classroom Teacher (K-6) at Sheldon Academy Location: Rutland VT 05701 (Relocation required) Pay: $23.25 - $24.50 per hour (depending on qualifications) Hours: Work 8-hour day shifts (Monday to Friday 8am-4pm) for a 10-month position following the school calendar for seasonal breaks and federal Responsibilities: *Deliver direct instruction in core subjects using a team approach. *Plan implement and monitor curriculum based on Vermont State standards modifying lesson plans as needed. *Maintain organized educational materials and accurate student records. *Attend student meetings and consult with outside school districts/agencies. *Collaborate with the educational team and implement therapeutic methods for student success and : *B.S. or B.A. in relevant subject area with VT Teaching License (K-6) and valid Vermont drivers license. *2 years of experience with behaviorally/emotionally disturbed children. *Strong communication empathy and organizational skills. *Strong knowledge of core subjects (e.g. Math Science English) and understanding of learning emotional-behavioral challenges and developmental disabilities. *Proficient in behavior intervention techniques relationship management and emergency response with basic computer : 403(b) Retirement with employer matching Health Dental STD LTD and Life Insurance Paid time off (vacation sick personal bereavement and parental leave) Employee assistance and discount programs heating oil special pricing including a 45% childcare discount Professional development assistance and tuition reimbursement Free breakfast & lunch provided daily Union positionApply Today to Make a Difference!The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
