Unit Role: The HMNB Clyde Joint Operations Centre (JOC) coheres the planning and delivery of named nuclear security operations on the Firth of Clyde and Scottish Maritime Exercise Areas (SXAs). It is enabled by a federated Joint Inter-Agency Task Force (JIATF) which includes representatives from UKIC Police Scotland and others. The JOCs purpose is to understand the developing threat to CASD during the SSBNs force generation period to inform planned reactive and pro-active threat reduction operations. The JOC is a full-spectrum CIS enabled Operations Centre that can generate a common intelligence and operating picture. Geographically located in HMNB Clyde to enable coherence with the Clyde Security Organisation the JOC is responsible to the Maritime Operations Centre in Northwood delivering security effect on behalf of both Commander Submarine Operations and Director Submarines.

Position Role: SO3 J3/5A Operations coordination and planning support (Land Environment SME) |
Responsibilities: - Provide tactical level planning and SO3 staff support to JOC Ops Planning Team(s) with a focus on land-based Nuc Sy operations in Scotland.
- Coordinate meetings attendance record minutes and track subsequent actions.
- Generate handle and protect classified information.
- Be a JOC watchkeeper during surge operational periods.
- Be a member of an on-call duty officer roster.

Domestic Considerations: Routine work will be on classified systems so is not suitable for either home or hybrid working arrangements. This position ideally requires DV security clearance to fulfil all associated responsibilities but can initially be delivered with SC clearance pending DV application and clearance. Infrequently there may be a requirement to work non-standard office hours in support of surge operational periods or in response to security incidents. This requires the incumbent to be located within daily commutable distance of HMNB Clyde during the working week. The variable rhythm and tempo of work will however generate predicable quiet periods enabling professional development and all annual leave entitlement to be taken. General working routines will be Monday to Thursdayand Friday. This position is on the Duty JOC Officer rosta; a 7 day rotation which includes the weekend. This duty requires the incumbent to be within 1 hours notice to recall to the JOC. |
