Position Overview
We are seeking a Travel Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide compassionate high-quality psychiatric care to residents in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. This role is ideal for a people-person who enjoys meeting new individuals building rapport quickly and working flexibly across multiple locations.
The PMHNP will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to support complex psychiatric and behavioral health needs in geriatric and medically vulnerable populations.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for nursing home and long-term care residents
Diagnose and manage psychiatric conditions including dementia-related behaviors mood disorders psychotic disorders anxiety and comorbid medical conditions
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with best practices and regulatory standards
Collaborate with nursing staff social workers administrators families and medical providers
Participate in treatment planning and behavioral interventions
Provide timely accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
Travel between assigned facilities as scheduled
Maintain compliance with state federal and facility-specific regulations

RVU: Compensation follows a structured RVU (Relative Value Unit) model designed to recognize clinical productivity quality of care and professional excellence.

Requirements
Active PMHNP license in NY state
Active DEA license in NY state
Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Experience (as RN or NP is a plus) in nursing homes long-term care geriatrics or inpatient psychiatry preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Comfort working independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Flexibility with scheduling and travel
Passion for patient-centered care and relationship-building
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between facilities

Required Skills:
Valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of New York with specialization in Psychiatry (PMHNP). Ability to work independently and effectively manage a caseload of patients. Strong diagnostic skills and knowledge of psychiatric medications and treatment modalities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with patients families and interdisciplinary team members. Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills. Compassionate patient-centered approach to care.
