Job Summary

FSM is a respected business development partner committed to safety and service. We are a proactive partner who takes a collaborative approach to aviation fuel maintenance and operations. The Maintenance and Compliance Lead reports directly to the General Manager. It will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the airport fuel facilities fuel receipts (from pipeline & transport trucks) pumping and filtration equipment underground hydrant systems and all associated regulatory inspections documentation and reporting at the local state and federal levels.


Essential Functions include the following duties to be assigned:

  • Performs fuel quality control checks and facility internal audits in accordance with ASTM ATA and station standards.
  • Assist mechanics and operators in their daily duties to ensure all tasks are completed in SAIM
  • Monitor quality assurance programs records and fuel inventory control
  • Perform and assist mechanics in repairs and maintenance necessary to prevent functional breakdowns of equipment.
  • Assist in management administration and special project requirements.
  • Revise operational procedures as needed
  • Provide required reports and follow up all operational and maintenance irregularities and report as required to the Ops Manager.
  • Provide daily oversight in the Quality Service Safety Management System Security and Training programs.
  • Document operate and submit required reports for environmental compliance including SPCC FRP and storm water management..
  • Ensure compliance with Haz waste material storage and handling. (SARA Tier II Reporting)
  • OWS documentation compliance and reporting.
  • Additionally this position requires flexible hours including weekend and potential holidays to respond to emergency call-out conditions.
  • Accept Jet A into our storage facility in accordance with ATA 103 established procedures and quality controls.
  • Ensures quality control of fuel and facility inspections.
  • Perform periodic and scheduled inspections in accordance with ATA 103 and NFPA standards.
  • Assists in calibration of equipment (if needed)
  • Maintain loading racks and fuel storage equipment
  • Updates records and inspection forms
  • Complete paperwork as instructed by Supervisor.
  • Inspects equipment document and report discrepancies.
  • Maintain and monitor all contracts leases permits and agreements for compliance
  • Assists in cleanup of fuel spills as well as maintaining a clean and safe work area.
  • Be able to respond and work in emergency conditions as required.
  • Ensures integrity of fuel hydrant system in accordance with ATA criteria.
  • Be able to work mandatory overtime as required.
  • Be able to perform audits with airlines FAA suppliers and internal auditors.
  • Be able to delegate and direct task efficiently safely and fairly to operators.
  • Be able to browse update download data from the SHARED drive.

Job Requirements:

The minimum requirements are:

  • Pass a federal fingerprint background check and pre-employment drug screening
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the US
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Ability to proficiently read write and speak English
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Driving requirements:

o Must be 21

o Have 3 years U.S. driving experience

o Hold a U.S. valid drivers license

o Maintain a driving record meeting the Companys commercial auto insurance standards (e.g. no Type A major violations)

Additional Requirements:

  • Possess 2-3 years of bulk fuel storage and handling management experience preferred or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Keen sense of reasoning problem-solving and technical troubleshooting of electrical electronic and mechanical systems related to bulk fuels.
  • Posses and maintain required identifications and certifications.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Ability to proficiently use and read a measuring tape
  • Ability to proficiently use basic hand tools
  • Ability to proficiently use a computer
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures as well as take direction from leadership
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

This position requires sustained physical effort and consistent exposure to outdoor and potentially hazardous work environments. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.


Mobility and Access

  • Must be able to climb up and down stairs and ladders with 50 steps and work at heights of 50 feet or more including high precarious places.
  • Must be able to get in and out of vehicles of varying sizes and heights.
  • Must be able to drive and operate vehicles and equipment of various sizes including automated lifts up to 26 feet.

Lifting and Carrying

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds overhead.
  • Occasionally lift up to 70 pounds to waist level.
  • Must be able to shovel materials such as snow sand dirt gravel or rocks as needed.

Standing and Movement

  • Ability to sit stand walk bend squat kneel crawl twist climb and balance for extended periods of time.
  • Perform repetitive physical movements including bending at the waist and knees and sustaining awkward or physically demanding positions.
  • Capable of climbing and standing on step ladders while performing overhead work such as connecting fueling hoses.

Manual Dexterity

  • Use hands and fingers to handle feel grip and operate tools equipment and controls.

Sensory Requirements

  • Hear and respond to verbal instructions environmental sounds and audible alarms.
  • Maintain the following vision capabilities:

o Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)

o Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)

o Color vision (identify and distinguish between colors)

o Peripheral vision (see up/down and side-to-side while focused on a central point)

o Depth perception (assess distance and spatial relationships)

o Ability to adjust focus (sharpen vision at various distances)


Environmental and Working Conditions

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme heat cold rain snow and wind.
  • Tolerate frequent exposure to:

o Moderate to high noise levels (with use of appropriate hearing protection)

o Fumes airborne particles and hazardous substances materials or waste

  • Work near or around:

o Moving mechanical parts

o High-voltage equipment

o Hydraulic and pneumatic systems operating under high pressure

  • Work in elevated or precarious positions such as on lifts ladders or elevated platforms.
