The Edmonton Police Service requires one (1) Digital Evidence Management Clerk to fullfill a critical role in the Digital Evidence Management this position you will process organize and upload digital evidence and information into the Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS) ensuring that investigators and the courts have timely access to accurate and complete digital evidence.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Collecting sorting and processing digital evidence and born-digital information from various electronic sources including shared network drives.
- Ensuring digital evidence is correctly named indexed and categorized for effective retrieval and management.
- Cross-referencing multiple information systems to identify and correct incomplete or inaccurate records.
- Uploading and indexing digital evidence and records into the DEMS.
- Downloading digital evidence and when necessary converting it to PDF for disclosure.
- Sending RMS tasks to officers when digital evidence requires corrections or additional metadata.
- Assisting in prioritizing and tracking tasks and court dates ensuring that the highest priority tasks are completed first and within required timelines.
- Escalating concerns to the unit supervisor when there is a risk that disclosure timelines may not be met.
- Performing administrative functions and other related duties to support EPS digital evidence management program.
- Performing other related duties as required.
- Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including subjects related to word and information processing or completion of a certificate program from an approved business school/college.
- Minimum of two (2) years of diversified word and information processing experience.
- Strong computer and MS Office skills.
- Ability to process a high volume of work efficiently and accurately under the pressure of a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and display professionalism sound judgment and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information.
- Knowledge of police applications including CAD CPIC JOIN and Niche would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of records and digital evidence management would be considered an asset.
- Capacity to deal with graphic and disturbing video audio and photographic content.
- Experience working in a court or law enforcement setting would be an asset.
- Applicants may be required to undergo a knowledge or skills assessment test.
Hours of Work:
40 hrs per week Monday Friday. Subject to change. Subject to change.
Salary Range: 21B Salary Grade: 007 $25.174 - $31.256 (Hourly) $2013.90 - $2500.50 (Bi-Weekly) $52563.31 - $65262.53 (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
