The Community Services Department is responsible for providing enriching fun and meaningful opportunities for the community to come together. The department operates the Epicenter Sports Complex RC Family Resource Center RC Sports Center Victoria Gardens Cultural Center Goldy S. Lewis Community Center and James L. Brulte Senior addition to the above-listed facilities more than 30 different parks are open to the community for passive use park shelters and event rentals hiking trails athletic fields and city-planned special events.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING HERE AT TEAM RC


The Sports Division Coordinator will oversee the development and implementation of Pee Wee sports programs including scheduling staffing and facility coordination. Other responsibilities include sports field allocations supervising staff and volunteers managing program budgets collaborating with community organizations and ensuring participant safety and satisfaction. The role also involves serving as a liaison to external partners maintaining program records and supporting departmental goals and special events.

The Sports & Fields Allocations Coordinator will:

Work collaboratively with nonprofit organizations including the Sports Advisory Committee to coordinate year-round field allocations and program operations and with City departments and external organizations to support program delivery and facility use.

Develop implement and evaluate Pee Wee sports program activities and events; identify and respond to community sports interests and emerging needs.

Promote programs events and schedules; notify special-interest groups and coordinate with state and local government entities. Serve as a liaison to community groups schools and external partners; conduct outreach to promote recreation programs and increase participation.

Oversee the daily operations of sports programs and events including conducting site visits and addressing participant or community concerns and complaints. Plan and coordinate sports program logistics schedules staffing facilities and equipment for seasonal and year-round activities. Monitor and maintain safe clean and well-functioning facilities and equipment; identify hazards ensure timely repairs and enforce safety policies procedures and staff training.

Supervise staff and volunteers by planning assigning training directing and evaluating work; assist with recruitment hiring performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed.

Maintain accurate records and prepare reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing sports-related and Sports Advisory Committee data trends and resources. Assist with program budget development monitoring and evaluation; track expenses manage program costs monitor inventory order supplies and maintain purchase records within authorized budgets.

Deliver exceptional customer service through clear timely and professional communication with staff volunteers participants and the public; identify issues and resolve problems effectively.

Participate in department meetings and communicate policy updates and program information to supervisors staff volunteers and the public as appropriate. Contribute to department goals by supporting team initiatives and assisting with department special events as needed.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops reviewing professional publications networking and participating in professional organizations.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Sports Coordinator position is an energetic motivated professional capable of performing both skilled and administrative work related to recreation sports programming and field allocations.

Key Qualifications and Skills

Experience working with Pee-Wee sports participants general public School Districts and volunteers.

Knowledge of sports programs with an emphasis on working closely with non-profit sports organizations.

Experience with field allocations and scheduling.

Ability to build train and develop a strong effective team.

Strong work ethic maturity and a commitment to customer service excellence.

Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through in a timely manner.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Initiative to ask questions take directions make suggestions and take responsibility.

Excellent judgement and strong listening written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to organize and maintain accurate files and records in both digital and print formats.

Demonstrated track record of ethical trustworthy and respectful conduct with the community and coworkers.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education and/or Experience:

Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelors degree with major coursework in recreation or a related field and two years of experience in the implementation of cultural and recreation programs or activities or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities. Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the theories principles practices and programs common to the field of recreation and leisure services; methods for identifying community recreation needs. Ability to effectively work with people having varied socio-economic standings; prepare and present concise written and oral reports; promote recreation and leisure programs; supervise aides and volunteers.

Substitution:A total offouryears of professional-level experiencein recreation or related field and two years ofexperience in the implementation of cultural and recreation programs or activities or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities may substitute for the Bachelors degree requirement.

Special Requirements

Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California drivers license and a satisfactory driving record. First Aid and CPR certification required within 60 days of employment.
