  • ACTIVITY LEADER: PHYSICAL EDUCATION 3.5 - 4 HR.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent
    2. Current Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate and/or criminal background clearance by Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation
    3. Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading writing and mathematicsor reading readiness writing readiness and mathematics readinessas appropriate
    4. Demonstrated ability or willingness to work with children of diverse ethnic racial cultural educational and economic backgrounds.
    5. Demonstrated abilities in variety of physical education techniques including formal sports games rhythms and fundamentals of body movement
    6. Ability to follow oral and written directions
    7. Interest in enhancing student school attendance positive behavior and well-being


    REPORTS TO: Administrator as assigned

    JOB GOAL: To assist school staff in developing and implementing meaningful well-organized extended day physical education program for participating students

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Adheres to full implementation of program guidelines and procedures of the Extended Learning Program
    2. Assists in developing and implementing physical education activities for participating students
    3. Works with individual students and groups of students as needed
    4. Works with parents and staff in promoting understanding of extended day program
    5. Participates in inservice training programs as needed
    6. Assists in providing variety of activities related to physical fitness fine arts recreation and prevention of unhealthful and inappropriate behavior
    7. Assists in selection of supplies materials and equipment
    8. Assists in maintaining necessary records and files
    9. Maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students
    10. Models personal and professional values of equity integrity caring collaboration personal and collective accountability
    11. Performs other related duties as assigned

    SALARY: $20.03 - $32.55 per hour

    (*10 month positions: Annual salary is divided into eleven (11) equal monthly)

    EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Districts Improvement of Professional Serviceshandbook Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable


    NEW PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION:

    A new employee or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification shall serve a probationary period which shall not exceed six (6) months of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences. During this probationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanent status in the classification. A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationary classification at any time without cause without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education. Pursuant to Education Code section 45113 a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationary period for that promotional position shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.


    MINIMUM APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

      a. Two years (48 semester units) of study at an accredited college or university
      b. Associates or higher degree from an accredited college or university
      c. Passage of BCSD Paraprofessional Test
      d. CBEST


    Copies of required certificates transcripts or diplomas may be submitted with application. District may require that originals be presented for verification prior to employment. Please check with Human Resources regarding acceptable documents. For positions requiring college course work official transcripts will be required upon employment.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operators license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
