Duties/Pligte

  • Providing client services support to clients of the Learning Commons and e-classroom including directional queries reference queries and hands-on assistance with IT and electronic
equipment.
  • Identifying troubleshooting and escalating technical software and other technical issues in the Learning Commons and e-classroom in collaboration with Library IT.
  • Ensuring that the computer equipment and printers in the Learning Commons that the e-classroom is in a fuctioning condition and that there is enough paper for the printers.
  • Maintaining operational efficiency through administrative tasks documentation management asset tracking and usage statistics in the Learning Commons.
  • Liaising communication and marketing of Learning Commons services including library guides orientation activities and training programmes.


  • Lewer klintediens aan gebruikers van die Leersentrum en e-klaskamer insluitend rigtingnavrae naslaannavrae en praktiese bystand met IT en elektroniese toerusting.
  • Identifisering foutopsporing en eskalering van tegniese sagteware- en ander tegniese probleme in die Leersentrum en e-klaskamer in samewerking met Biblioteek-IT.
  • Verseker dat rekenaartoerusting en drukkers in die Leersentrum dat die e-klaskamer in n werkende toestand is en dat daar genoeg papier vir die drukkers is.
  • Handhaaf bedryfsdoeltreffendheid in die Leersentrum deur administratiewe take dokumentasiebestuur bate-nasporing en gebruiksstatistiek.
  • Bemark en kommunikeer die dienste van die Leersentrum insluitend biblioteekgidse orinterings- en opleidingsprogramme.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • Grade 12.
  • At least two years experience in a client service division of an academic library.
  • Strong client and service-oriented skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal teamwork and communication skills.
  • Good computer proficiency including sound knowledge of the Windows environment and the
Microsoft Office package.
  • Training and online learning skills.


  • Graad 12.
  • Minstens twee jaar se werkservaring in n klintediensafdeling van n akademiese biblioteek.
  • Sterk klint- en diensingesteldheid vaardighede.
  • Uitstekende interpersoonlin leervaardighede.
  • Goeie rekenaarvaardigheid insluitend n grondige kennis van die Windows omgewing en die Microsoft Office pakket.
  • Opleidings- en aanlyn leervaardighede.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

  • Knowledge of information retrieval database search strategies metadata and the use of search engines.
  • Basic knowledge of the integrated library system Alma.
