About the Role

The Indigenous Employment Mentor plays a vital role in providing wrap-around support to participants as they move toward sustainable employment.

This role focuses on mentoring training and addressing barriers to employment while fostering wellbeing resilience and confidence. By building strong community connections and delivering practical workshops the mentor empowers individuals to achieve long-term success.

Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement under Section50(d) of theEqual Opportunity Act1984(WA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor individuals to identify pathways to wellbeing and sustainable employment
  • Identify barriers to employment and connect mentees with appropriate support networks and services
  • Share cultural knowledge and lived experience to build understanding respect and inclusion
  • Provide one-on-one support during pre-employment training including personal development financial literacy digital skills and job readiness
  • Support and/or co-lead Indigenous cultural awareness activities in collaboration with Employment Facilitators

About You

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage (Section 50(d))
  • Experience working within diverse communities and building meaningful relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to engage participants with a supportive trauma-informed approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with diverse groups.
  • Passion for creating positive change and improving employment outcomes.

Willingness to travel within Perth and regional WA including the ability to undertake placements of up to 8 weeks with return home on weekends all travel expenses covered.

Eligibility Criteria and Qualifications: To be eligible to work for us you need to have:

  • National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months)
  • A valid Australian Drivers Licence
  • A valid Working with Childrens Card (or ability to obtain)
