JOB GOAL:

Monroe High School is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic coaches to serve as Assistant Track and Field Coaches. The ideal candidates will support the overall success of the track and field program working collaboratively with the head coach to foster a positive and inclusive environment. Assistant Coaches will help develop athletes across a variety of track and field events promote sportsmanship and teamwork and contribute to the holistic development of student-athletes.

For the upcoming season three Assistant Coach positions are available with the following areas of focus:

• Throwers Coach (Shot Put & Discus)
• Sprinters Coach
• Jumps Coach

Applicants should indicate their area(s) of interest and relevant experience within their application materials.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous coaching experience in track and field at the high school collegiate or competitive youth level is highly preferred.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Knowledge of fundamental skills and techniques in track and field events including sprints jumps and throwing events.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with athletes staff and parents.
• Ability to contribute to a positive competitive and supportive team culture.
• Demonstrated organizational skills to assist in planning practices and managing meet logistics.
• Commitment to upholding and enforcing MHSAA rules and Monroe High Schools codes of conduct.
• Willingness to support the head coach in setting high academic and athletic standards for all team members.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff administrators and other members of the school community.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the Head Coach in leading the Track and Field team during practices meets and competitions.
• Help develop and implement training programs focusing on athlete development injury prevention and event-specific performance.
• Support regular practice sessions that emphasize technique conditioning and event strategies within assigned event areas.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes discipline resilience and respect.
• Monitor academic performance and encourage a healthy balance between athletics and academics for all team members.
• Assist in the recruitment and development of athletes encouraging participation at all levels.
• Uphold and enforce all MHSAA rules and Monroe High Schools codes of conduct.
• Collaborate with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to ensure consistency in training and program goals.
• Communicate effectively with athletes parents and school administration regarding team progress events and expectations.
• Attend team meetings professional development workshops and other required functions as directed by the Athletic Director.
