Title:Head Football Coach

Qualifications:
- Experience in the designated sport
- Must meet all coaching requirements as specified by the Board of Education and OHSAA including acquiring a pupil activity permit and CPR certification
- Prior coaching experience preferred
- Van certification preferred
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for organizing administering and coaching the team and enforcing all rules of the Athletic Department the CBL and OHSSA.
- Responsible for carrying out the administrative policies as they apply to the Athletic Department.
- Works cooperatively with administrators Athletic Director and coaches to carry out the athletic program.
- Coordinates coaching methods and assigned duties with the assistantcoaches and volunteer coaches provides list of volunteer coaches to Athletic Office.
- Assists the Athletic Director in evaluating the performance of assistant coaches in grades 7-12.
- Conducts a pre-season meeting to determine number of participants. This meeting should be at least two weeks before the season starts.
- Provides Athletic Office with names of prospective team members so students can be checked for eligibility physical examination and training rules.
- Transportation to all away contests will be provided by the Athletic Department. If a team is going via bus the coach should have team ready at departure time. If a team is going via school owned vans the coach is responsible for getting reliable drivers.
- Coaches are responsible for picking up van keys and putting vans back in garage when finished after which keys should be dropped in Athletic Office key slot. Coaches are responsible for cleanliness of van. Vans should be checked at conclusion of trips.
- All team members including manager cheerleaders and statisticians must travel to and from contests on school vehicle. Any student wishing to ride with parents must have written permission and parents mustverbally notify Athletic Office.
- Coaches must notify Athletic Office of any additions or deletions to theirroster during the season.
- Assumes responsibility for use of video tape camera and tapes. Makes sure batteries are re-charged upon completion. Reports any problems toAthletic Office.
- Provides roster with complete information (height weight numbers etc.) prior to first contest.
- Encourages participation in other sports and supports coaches of other sports.
- Checks continuously on the health of athletes.
- Reports all injuries and misconduct immediately to the Athletic Trainer or Athletic Director and fills out an injury report.
- Develops good sportsmanship.
- Accompanies and supervises the team to and from all contests
- Plans and supervises the practice session.
- Plans practices and games so that a coach is with students for all gamesand practices.
- Assumes responsibility for all groups of athletes until they are dressed and have left the building.
- Assumes responsibility for securing all gates dressing rooms locker and gymnasium or field facilities before leaving the area after play or practice.
- Assumes responsibility for cleanliness team behavior and overall conditions of locker rooms during the sports season.
- Assumes responsibility for all equipment and supplies issued for its return at the end of the season and for its cleaning repair and storage.
- Completes equipment inventory at the conclusion of the season and files inventor with the Athletic Director.
- Develops a budget of needed equipment to be submittedafter season. Haslist approved by the Athletic Director principal and superintendent.
- Establishes appropriate team regulations and assures that all athletics are knowledgeable of the regulations.
- Assumes responsibility for the selection/certification of league teams tournament teams and invitational tournaments and provides the appropriate information to the tournament manager; attends the drawing for such tournament.
- Assists in the planning Fall Banquet.
- Completes summary report of the squads activities within two weeks after the last scheduled game and files with the Athletic Director the report including the number of events lost and won special awards letter points and honors.
- Develops schedules as required.
- Assumes responsibility for reporting progress of programs individual performances pre and post-season information and game results to the news media.
- Works with the press and community in friendly courteous manner.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining high level of participation.
- Assumes responsibility for the proper conduct/behavior of athletes.
- Delegates appropriate duties to assistant coaches but retains responsibility for seeing that duties are accomplished in a satisfactory manner.
- Attends the local OHSM rules interpretation meeting.
- Assumes other duties assigned by the Athletic Director and approved bythe school principal.
