Process Engineer - Relief Systems

About the position
The Process Engineer will be a member of the Process Engineering team in the Chevron ENGINE. The role provides process engineering support for relief system calculations analysis and evaluations modeling and design support to Chevrons Refining Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Specialty Chemicals Production and Upstream assets and plays a pivotal role in understanding and evaluating asset performance. Engineers will interface directly with Chevron assets to provide appropriate level of ownership and remote support.
Key responsibilities
Provide daily technical support for relief devices (PSVs rupture discs tank vents) and flare system across operating units including troubleshooting operational issues failures and testing anomalies.
Support relief device maintenance activities through review and approval of pressure relief device datasheets creation of alternate relief plans and bypassing critical protections evaluations.
Conduct Management of Change (MOC) evaluations and review/update PSV hydraulics studies relief load calculations and analysis to validate/evergreen existing installations and support new projects or modifications in accordance with the MOC process.
Validate or update existing pressure relief system analysis to ensure compliance with updated operating conditions recent process modifications or PHA/HAZOP recommendations.
Assess relief system capabilities and make recommendations on required modifications to implement feed rate increases and debottlenecking projects.
Perform core Process Engineering Design tasks to support project development and execution.
Contribute to process design by applying engineering principles to optimize technologies and equipment across multiple facilities.
Develop and maintain detailed process simulation models to evaluate design alternatives and operating scenarios.
Review and improve designs to enhance operability reliability and maintainability.
Provide analytical support for complex troubleshooting and investigation efforts.
Coordinate and participate in HAZOP studies to ensure process safety and risk mitigation.
Apply process engineering and design principles to deliver high quality and predictable designs on projects.
About you
Knowledge of O&G chemical process technologies will be highly regarded.
Experience in design and evaluation of overpressure protection systems.
Familiarity with relief design management software such as iPRSM or PSPPM.
Proficient in Pro II and/or Hysys and Aspen Flare System Analyzer modeling software.
Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards especially those that pertain to relief system design and maintenance such as ASME Section XIII and API 520/521.
Required Qualifications
3-5 years of process engineering experience in process design for complex process facilities including refineries petrochemical or LNG facilities etc
Must have a Chemical Engineering degree or similar from an appropriate certified university.
