Overview

You will provide hands-on legal support for mergers and acquisitions mostly across the Americas. Based in Montreal and reporting to the Vice-President Legal Global M&A you will deliver expert counsel ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and risk management standards. Your role

  • Support identification and evaluation of M&A opportunities mostly in the Americas region.
  • Execute M&A transactions mostly within the Americas region.
  • Coordinate with external law firms on transaction-specific matters ensuring efficient management of legal resources for Americas deals.
  • Collaborate with internal legal teams and other experts to leverage regional expertise and for integration planning.
  • Contribute to the collection and sharing of legal M&A lessons learned and best practices and assist in the development of deal templates and playbooks.

About you

  • Strong academic credentials with law degree from a recognized institution; member in good standing of a bar in Canada or relevant U.S./Latin American jurisdiction.
  • Bilingualism (French & English) *
  • 5-8 years of legal experience ideally with a combination of law firm training and in-house experience with a focus on M&A and corporate transactions.
  • Demonstrated experience participating in M&A deal structuring execution negotiation and documentation preferably with transactions in the United States.
  • Strategic understanding of business management and the ability to contribute to commercial business and risk issues through the legal lens.
  • Strong financial acumen and detail-oriented and analytical abilities.
  • Superior organizational and project management skills.
  • The role is based in Montreal and offers the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement combining in-office and remote work.

* More than 80% of the workload is for outside Québec: This position requires knowledge of a language other than French namely English as more than 80% of the workload is intended for clients partners or projects located outside Québec.
