Job Summary
Position Summary:
COCAs accompanists provide musical accompaniment for dance classes and other performance activities.
Essential Functions:
This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
- Play live music (piano) as accompaniment for ballet.
- Prepare and know the music needed for all classes levels and rehearsals for which you are scheduled.
- Provide and play the proper tempo style and variations of music suitable for each assigned class.
- Fulfill the number of hours/classes required in your specific Letter of Agreement.
- Communicate professionally and courteously at all times to faculty staff parents and students.
- Arrange for a qualified substitute when unable to attend scheduled classes.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Commitment to accompaniment and continuity on a part time basis.
- Ability to perform moderate to complex musical pieces.
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Knowledge of classical ballets their major themes and the ability to play individual variations from these ballets.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk stand and sit for periods of time.
- Ability to lift carry and move at least 20lbs.
