The Fine Arts Division at Bethany College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Piano and Music Theory beginning August candidates will have demonstrated skills in piano pedagogy and music theoryand be committed to excellence in undergraduate music education within a liberal arts environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS: The position includes a 24-credit annual teaching load. Successful candidates will teach piano proficiency the music theory sequence and piano lessons along with other music courses as needed. This position will also provide collaborative piano/accompanying for students and departmental events as needed.

Additional responsibilities include contributing to the continuous collection of materials for curriculum assessment and providing academic advising to students. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to student recruitment efforts which may include actively participating in recruitment events and building relationships with local high schools and community organizations. The successful candidate will also engage with the local arts community and foster connections that support the program and the college.

QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate (DMA or PhD) in Piano Performance Piano Pedagogy Music Theory; ABD will be considered. Demonstrated excellence in piano performance and applied teaching is essential along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines. Ability to teach secondary organ lessons and class piano is a plus.

SALARY: Contingent upon experience.

DIVISION: The Music program within the Fine Arts Division at Bethany College currently offers the B.A. in Music and the B.M. in Music addition it supports the B.M.E. in both Instrumental Music Teaching and Vocal Music Teaching.
