Job Summary
Remote role based in mainland Europe. We are seeking Backend or Systems Engineers who know how to use - in-depth - Python Django and Kafka
Tasks
- Design and operate distributed backend services that handle high traffic and real time workloads
- Build and maintain Python based services using Django and asynchronous patterns where appropriate
- Own event driven components using Kafka including producers consumers and data flow design
- Take services from initial design through production monitoring and long term maintenance
- Work closely with product frontend and infrastructure teams to deliver features safely at speed
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and architectural discussions
- Participate in on call rotation and incident response
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering experience with Python in production systems
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems (microservices event driven or similar)
- Hands on experience with Kafka or similar streaming platforms in production
- Solid understanding of scalability reliability and failure modes
- Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Familiarity with containerized deployments and cloud environments
- Comfort reasoning about concurrency performance and system behaviour under load
Nice to have:
- Async Python experience (asyncio async views background workers)
- Deep Django knowledge
- Kubernetes Terraform or infrastructure ownership
- Systems serving very high traffic or real time workloads
