We are currently seeking an exceptional Staff Engineer to join our Business and Client Services (BCS) Delivery team and provide technical leadership across multiple delivery squads.

In this senior role you will drive the architectural vision and design of foundational enterprise-wide solutions focused on document ingestion unstructured data storage knowledge management and process automation. You will be a key technical leader setting engineering standards and best practices across BCS Delivery while mentoring and developing engineering talent.

Your deep curiosity and expertise will help identify where emerging technologies particularly AI LLMs and modern tooling can solve our most challenging problems. You will work closely with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and guide teams in designing elegant scalable solutions that deliver measurable impact across Marsh. This position will be based in Dublin Ireland and will work on a hybrid working pattern.

We will count on you to:

• Provide architectural and design leadership across multiple squads driving technical strategy and decision-making for complex enterprise-scale solutions.
• Mentor and develop engineers at all levels elevating the technical capabilities of the entire BCS group through coaching code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Establish and champion engineering excellence defining standards best practices and frameworks that shape how we build software across BCS.
• Act as a technical visionary staying deeply curious about emerging technologies (especially LLMs AI tooling and modern development approaches) and identifying opportunities to apply them to our hardest problems.
• Partner with clients product teams and stakeholders to deeply understand user challenges and translate them into elegant technical solutions.
• Lead by example through hands-on contributions to critical initiatives while maintaining a strategic perspective across multiple projects.
• Drive architectural decisions that balance innovation with pragmatism ensuring solutions are scalable maintainable and aligned with business objectives.
• Foster a culture of experimentation and rapid iterationembracing a proof-of-concept mindset while learning from failures and communicating lessons effectively.
• Collaborate with counterparts in the Dublin and Cluj AI teams to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing across the organization.
• Guide teams in operationalizing and scaling prototype solutions to support large user bases and critical revenue streams.
• Influence technology choices and architectural patterns across the BCS group contributing to our long-term technical roadmap.
• Bridge technical and business perspectives effectively communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including executives.

What you need to have:

• Minimum 6 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of technical leadership and impact.
• Deep expertise in full-stack development with proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (React Vue or Angular) and backend technologies (NestJS/NodeJS Python or similar).
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems and enterprise architecture.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies infrastructure and deployment practices (Kubernetes serverless CI/CD).
• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM technologies including practical knowledge of prompt engineering model integration and RAG architecture.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop engineers with examples of elevating team capabilities and establishing engineering standards.
• Experience leading architectural decisions across multiple teams or projects balancing technical excellence with business pragmatism.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels from engineers to executives.
• Strong opinions loosely heldopinionated about technology choices while remaining open to new perspectives.
• Insatiable curiosity about emerging technologies and a track record of successfully introducing new approaches to solve complex problems.

What makes you stand out:

• Experience as a Staff Engineer Principal Engineer or similar senior technical leadership role.
• Deep expertise in AI/LLM technologies with production experience building and scaling RAG systems agent frameworks or similar advanced AI solutions.
• Track record of identifying and championing new technologies that delivered significant business value.
• Experience in document ingestion unstructured data processing knowledge management or search systems at scale.
• Demonstrated success mentoring teams and individuals to achieve higher levels of technical excellence.
• Strong knowledge of modern data architectures including vector databases graph databases and hybrid storage approaches.
• Experience working in fintech insurance or other regulated industries with complex compliance requirements.
• Contributions to open source technical writing conference speaking or other visible technical leadership activities.
• Experience bridging multiple technical domains (e.g. AI/ML distributed systems data engineering) to create innovative solutions.
