Performs all aspects of work related to the servicing and maintenance of water/ wastewater equipment buildings and such other systems owned by the Municipality with an emphasis towards mechanical functions.
How you contribute to our organization:
- Performs all aspects of work related to the servicing maintenance and repair of drinking water & wastewater treatment processes including but not limited to all equipment associated with the supply of drinking water and the collection/treatment of wastewater and such other systems owned by the Municipality with a primary focus on a mechanical work discipline. The Town has up to level 4 treatment facilities (4 being the highest level in Ontario) as such there are strict Ministry of the Environment (MOE) regulatory requirements that must be adhered to.
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance work as assigned by supervisor through the Towns Computerized Maintenance Management System on all water/wastewater works processes and water supply/collection systems including but not limited to mechanical hydraulic pneumatic and electrical equipment submersible pumps combustion engines aeration equipment compressors valves chemical dosing and building systems.
- Monitors reviews and troubleshoots process operations and equipment. Provides efficient troubleshooting and repair of process equipment for all drinking water supply/treatment wastewater collection/treatment and such other systems owned and operated by the Municipality.
- Assists with the development and updating of the Preventative Maintenance programs within the Public Works Department. Provides feedback to CMMS administration members and supervisor on areas of improvement or updates within the CMMS process.
- Evaluates equipment performance and estimates wear / change out predictions using testing and measurement instruments including but not limited to thermo-graphic imaging vibration analysis data logging micrometers calipers and dial indicators.
- Conducts studies of equipment operation in collaboration with supervisor to achieve optimum cost-effective operations. Prepares written descriptive summary reports as applicable.
- Oversees the work of contractors as assigned by the Supervisor or Senior Maintenance Technician.
What you bring to the team:
- Certificate or diploma in Millwright or Industrial Mechanic. This will include a college certificate from Trades school. Must possess Industrial Millwright License (433A) (completed full apprenticeship).
- Industrial Electrician License would be considered an asset.
- 3-5 years experience working as Millwright in a maintenance environment.
- Experience in or related to water and/or wastewater operations as well as Ministry of Environment licenses would be an asset.
- Must have a valid G level drivers license in good standing and ability to provide a clean drivers abstract.
- Standard First Aid and CPR C Confined Space Working at Heights certifications are required.
- Competent computer operating skills: - Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; CMMS systems (preferably CityWorks). Familiarization with SCADA systems would be an asset.
Salary: $78474.12 to 98098.12 plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan
Hours: 40 hours per week Monday - Friday
Location: Alliston Wastewater Treatment Plant 4982 Sir Frederick Banting Road Alliston
Start Date: First position start date is February 23rd 2026 second position start is April 1 2026
