Because of the temporary nature of these appointments Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Staff the Basic Needs Virtual Café:

  • Serve as a primary contact for students utilizing the Virtual Café providing information on basic needs resources (e.g. food security housing financial wellness).
  • Respond to inquiries via chat email or video conferencing and ensure timely follow-up with students.
2. Data Collection and Analysis:
  • Assist in gathering organizing and analyzing data related to student engagement service use and feedback from the Virtual Café and other Basic Needs programs.
  • Identify trends and compile reports for program improvement and evaluation.
3. Event Support:
  • Provide logistical and on-site support for virtual and in-person events related to student wellness such as workshops resource fairs and focus groups.
  • Assist in planning organizing and promoting these events.
4. Communications and Outreach:
  • Assist with the creation of marketing materials social media posts and newsletters to promote the Virtual Café and Basic Needs resources.
  • Contribute to the development of a communications plan to engage students across various platforms.
5. Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the System Basic Needs Coordinator and campus teams to ensure alignment with the broader Basic Needs initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings and planning sessions related to Basic Needs projects.
6. Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Support additional tasks as required to ensure the success of the Basic Needs program.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education Health Social Sciences Social Work Media International or Global Studies Public Policy or related field and 0 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for project/program management and/or administrative support; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
2. Functional knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of project/program management and/or administrative support as demonstrated by knowledge understanding and ability to apply concepts terminology.
3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles theories federal and state laws rules regulations and systems associated with project/program management and/or administrative support.
4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of project/program management and/or administrative support.
5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team members and individuals.
7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
11. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Suite.
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA guidelines.

Desirable Qualifications:
1. Experience in customer service or student support roles particularly in virtual settings.
2. Familiarity with basic needs resources (e.g. food security housing financial literacy).
3. Ability to analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources and present it clearly.
4. Experience with event planning and coordination.
5. Knowledge of social media and digital communication strategies.
