DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient & staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reports to the Manager or designate provides network technical support services for a variety of internal and external users by performing duties such as troubleshooting documentation and resolution of VoIP telephones hardware software and communication problems using vendor provided utilities; and the installation configuration upgrading and testing of hardware and software according to established procedures. Provides operational support for the centralized and distributed network environments throughout the assigned geographical area.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. If applicable transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and the incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Grade 12 graduation from a recognized two year computer systems technology diploma program plus two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Valid BC Drivers license.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to type.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
