Full-time Probationary Librarian II - 1.0 FTE

The librarian is directly responsible to the principal for the administration and overall operation of the school library and Learning Commons. This role requires the ability to work collaboratively with students staff and the school community.

The librarian:

Fosters curiosity creativity and collaboration.

Encourages responsible digital and information literacy.

Provides equitable access to resources in both print and digital formats.

Creates a welcoming inclusive and safe environment for all learners.

Supports curriculum goals by partnering with teachers and staff in instructional planning and resource use.

Role Level:

Librarian II Supervisory role responsible for overseeing Librarian I staff in addition to Learning Commons/Library responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

1. Student Support

Guide students in locating using and citing resources.

Support the development of research inquiry and digital literacy skills.

Ensure the Learning Commons is a respectful inclusive and productive environment.

2. Teacher & Staff Support

Collaborate with teachers to integrate Learning Commons resources into classroom instruction.

Assist with class projects group research activities and literacy initiatives.

Support supervision during class visits and student use of the space.

3. Resource & Collection Management

Maintain accurate and current records using the computerized library system.

Circulate materials including check-in/check-out renewals and overdue tracking.

Mend and preserve books technology and other resources.

Recommend and requisition new materials (books periodicals and digital resources) in consultation with the principal.

Order and manage library supplies through the principal.

4. Learning Commons Operations

Maintain and update print digital and audiovisual collections.

Organize physical and digital spaces for accessibility and ease of use.

Promote engagement through displays orientations and workshops.

5. General Duties

Create and maintain a welcoming space that encourages literacy innovation and exploration.

Support school-wide literacy research and technology integration.

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal that align with school learning goals
