Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity in Indianapolis IN for a Quality and Reliability Engineer.

Summary:

The Quality and Reliability Engineer is responsible for implementing ATI quality policies and procedures in the manufacturing part fabrication and assembly environment. Activities include monitoring various elements of operations quality problem solving to correct issues and reporting results. This individual will exercise a high level of independent judgment using a considerable amount of creativity initiative and determination. This individual will lead focused teams and will drive corrective action preventative action and continuous improvement activities on a variety of tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect analyze document and develop corrective action strategies for internal and external quality related issues.

  • Organize coordinate and interface with OEMs regarding parts and transmission concerns.

  • Coordinate continuous improvement activities and corrective action activities to closure.

  • Provide professional reports on quality investigations findings and results.

  • Develop and/or complete plant reliability tests to analyze and solve problems.

  • Analyze product and process design to prevent and correct problems.

  • Develop conduct and complete required reliability process and product audits. Participate in TS16949 and ISO9001 audits.

  • Communicate and coordinate activities with cross-functional organizations.

  • Implements and actively supports the plant and corporate safety policies and initiatives.

  • Provide a physical presence in the workplace.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies & Behaviors:

Required:

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.

  • High level of knowledge of product engineering and manufacturing/assembly processes.

  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with business partners and diverse work groups to meet mutual goals required.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9000: IATF 16949 requirements.

  • Ability to effectively use computer software.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of ATI Quality and Reliability policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of automatic transmission.

  • Knowledge of blue print reading and dimensional layout including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Familiarity with SPC PFMEA Process Control Plans 8D Corrective Action Strategy and Layered Process Audits.

  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Gear Analyzer familiarity.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering related program

Experience:

Required:

  • 3 years experience in Quality Engineer or related role.
