MalaceHR is seeking a skilled Operating Engineer to support the daily operations and maintenance of a commercial facility in Orlando FL. This role is responsible for operating maintaining troubleshooting and repairing a variety of building systems with a strong focus on HVAC and chiller systems that support a critical laboratory environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong HVAC background experience with chillers and the ability to work independently in a client-facing environment. This position requires a professional individual who can maintain building systems respond to service requests and ensure the facility operates safely and efficiently.
Operate maintain troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems chillers and associated mechanical equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical plumbing structural lighting and control systems.
Maintain and support building infrastructure to ensure all systems operate within required performance standards.
Perform routine inspections cleaning calibration and component replacement on HVAC and facility equipment.
Respond to and complete work orders and service requests related to facility maintenance.
Perform general maintenance tasks including lighting plumbing repairs and minor building repairs.
Monitor equipment performance and record operational readings to ensure proper system operation.
Assist with preventative maintenance scheduling and execution.
Monitor maintenance work performed by outside contractors to ensure quality and compliance with facility standards.
Assist with purchasing and inventory control for maintenance parts and supplies.
Follow all safety policies and procedures while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Safely handle and store materials according to facility policies.
Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain proper housekeeping in mechanical rooms and maintenance areas.
Maintain logs records and operational data for facility equipment.
Perform periodic checks of tools and instrumentation inventory.
Utilize computerized systems to track maintenance activities and documentation.
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
24 years of experience maintaining commercial building systems preferred
Strong experience with HVAC systems and chiller equipment
Experience performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting building systems
Technical Skills
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot commercial mechanical electrical plumbing and HVAC systems
Working knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and facility operations
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of technical or trade school training in HVAC refrigeration or electrical systems
Experience working in critical or laboratory environments
Strong HVAC and chiller system knowledge
Ability to work independently and manage daily maintenance tasks
Professional and comfortable in a client-facing environment
Strong communication and customer service skills
Reliable detail-oriented and safety-focused
